With “gigs” in restaurants, wineries, festivals and events, 15-year- old Eric Sconyers is taking Northeast Ohio by storm. For the last five years, as other kids were playing with Legos, Eric was perfecting his talent by playing his saxophone and entertaining people of all ages. He mostly performs by himself but has sat in with bands like Festivus and Forecast.
The saxophone was not his first instrument of choice. Eric began with the piano but did not enjoy it. The switch to the saxophone was influenced by his dad who plays the saxophone and taught Eric how to play while in the fourth grade.
Now, a sophomore at Lake Catholic High School, Eric is a member of the marching band, concert band and swing band. He is also in the Lakeland Community College Jazz Impact Band.
Eric continues to take saxophone classes and has an interest in learning more about music theory. He welcomes all opportunities to perform in front of crowds of any size. He performs monthly at the Mentor Harbor Yacht Club and Red Wine and Brew in Mentor. Added to his September performances, Eric will be playing at the Village Peddler Festival on Sunday, September 18th from 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm.
The Village Peddler Festival is a two-day event now in its 35 th year, held at Lake Metroparks Farmpark in Kirtland on September 17th (10:00 am – 6:00 pm) and September 18th (10:00 am – 5:00 pm).
