Pasta 4 Paws
Join Rose’s Rescue for their second annual Pasta 4 Paws pasta dinner on Saturday, April 26, 2014.
Rose’s Rescue will once again be holding a pasta dinner to raise funds to continue our work in rescuing homeless pets in the area.
In 2002, Rose found a stray dog and could not find a place to take it. So began the beginning of a pet rescue being born. Because of Rose’s desire to educate and help the public, the rescue has worked with the citizens of the area to get their animals spayed or neutered and vaccinated. She has also gone the extra mile to work closely with the Portage County Dog Warden’s Shelter, the Portage Animal Protective League, and other pet rescues in the area.
And yes there really is a Rose of Rose’s Rescue, but she is a behind-the-scenes kind of gal that only wants to help the animals. Rose relies on a wonderful group of volunteers to be in the public eye. So with the vision of one dedicated volunteer, and the help of many other volunteers, the pasta dinner event was born.
Last year, the event had over 100 gift items available with a chance to win. We are striving for even more items this year. Just a few of the items available for raffle include a Kindle Fire basket, a basket of cheer, a lottery tree, and a Sealy Mattress set. There are just too many others to mention. Winner need not be present. To donate items for auction, contact Kim @ (724) 456-3515.
This is a Chinese Auction where participants purchase tickets and place them in the container designated for that item. The winning ticket is then drawn at random.
Now the food ain’t so bad either! Large plate of pasta with meatballs (if desired), roll and butter, drink and dessert. Tickets are available at the door. Adult $7.00, children (5-12) $5.00, and children under 5 years old are free. Take out is available.
Dinner will be served from 2:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m. Raffle drawing begins promptly at 7:00 p.m.
This is one way you can help some furry friends; by coming out and supporting Rose’s Rescue on April 26 at the Ravenna American Legion Hall, 109 Elm St, Ravenna, Ohio. This might be your only chance to meet Rose also, as she will be there slinging pasta. That right there is worth the trip!
A big thank you goes out to the Ravenna American Legion #331 for their support of Rose’s Rescue through the donation of the hall, but also through years of monitory donations to the rescue. They have been supporters for quite some time now!
Apparently April 26 is quite a popular date in Portage County, as the Portage County Dog Warden is also holding their rabies shot and micro chipping clinic from noon to 4 pm that day. If your cat or dog needs a rabies vaccine, please give them a call for details 330- 297-6924.
APL Spring Fling
The Portage Animal Protective League is holding their Paws to Celebrate Spring Fling on April 26.
So there is a lot of support of the animals on that date! Check out one or check out all of them! Just maybe it will have stopped snowing by then!
Just a note. All three groups I have mentioned here are always in need of volunteers. The warden’s office and APL are always looking for dog walkers and people to handle dogs at events. Rose’s Rescue is always looking for foster parents and dog handlers for events. Something you just might want to consider.
