“We strive to inspire our dancers to be the best they can be and excel in life through the art and love of dance.”
It’s not real common to find a successful 24 year old business owner who has already established a growing company with a good reputation. But Candace Szarka, owner of the Mantua studio, is not common! She has been in the dance arena since she was two years old and loved it so much, it became the natural next pursuit – open her own studio at 20 years old. She had already danced in three different studios and taught at two, competed and won numerous awards, and was invited to perform on the Dance USA dance team. And since “dancers do not quit,” opening her own studio, a long time dream she held, would allow her to dance her life away! And so she did. “I was so nervous at first,” says Candace, “I was so young. I didn’t know what was going to happen, but it took off!”
Now in her fifth year of dance instruction, she has surrounded herself with a very experienced staff of dancer-instructors who have been in the dance realm for up to 35 years. How wise is that! No wonder she has continued to grow a successful business. Together they provide quality dance education for both the recreational and competitive dancer. “Classes are disciplined, but nurturing, to enhance and encourage progress in all of our students.” And all the staff continues to educate themselves by taking master classes to guarantee quality instruction to their students which range from ages two to adult.
Candance Academy offers classes for both the recreational and competitive dancer. The competitive team travels to five regional competitions a year and one national championship. They have also had the thrill of performing at the Liberty Bowl halftime show in Memphis Tennessee and the Canton Charge basketball team’s halftime show. They have won a ton of awards, including many judges choice awards. “We even received plaques at one of our competitions as a nominee for entertainer of the year,” Candace proudly shares. Be sure to visit the Candance Facebook page HERE. You can also find info on buying some cool t-shirts there!
Candance runs a five week Summer Dance Intensive, 2013 marking the fourth season. It is required attendance for all competitive dancers, but also has many different class choices for all ages.
For the team, the focus is to work on things for the upcoming year. Each girl decides what classes they are going to take, which must include ballet, and then whatever style they are competing in as there are several options. But most take all of the classes which amounts to about five hours each day of dancing. “My primary goal for the Intensive,” shares Candace, “is to watch students grow as people and dancers, and to make and build friendships that will last a lifetime.”
The Summer Dance Intensive also attracts many new customers. What a great addition to your child’s summer activities. Get them off the computer and video game console and into the studio! They may just find a new life long love – just like Candace did!
Adults looking for some great workouts can sign up for Total Barre Workout and Zumba classes. These are held twice a week. Call the studio for more information.

Classes are offered Monday through Saturday from 4 to10 p.m. Visit their website for a list of offerings and descriptions. Visit their Facebook for current happenings!
