The Portage Park District is celebrating an important milestone in growth, the installation of four restroom facilities, at locations throughout the county, thanks to funding provided by park district levy funds approved by voters in 2014. Locations that received the restrooms were Dix Park, Morgan Park, Shaw Woods and the Headwaters Trail at the Route 700 trailhead. The facilities are prefabricated concrete buildings with vault non-flush vault toilets due to their remote locations away from sanitary sewers. The restrooms, consistently cited as a desired amenity in user surveys, were opened for use by park patrons as of Friday, November 30th.
