Celebrate the opening of our newest Portage Park!
Join us this Saturday, May 17 at 3:30 as we dedicate the new Red Fox Boat Access on Upper Cuyahoga River, 9263 Price Road Shalersville. This parking area and ramp offers a safe public place to access the river. This public access will serve as a take-out point for paddlers who put in upstream, opening up another 6 river miles from Buchert Park in Mantua Village, about an extra 2-hour paddle. How appropriate since folks all around the community will be celebrating the 24th annual RiverDay!
Interested paddlers should be aware that downed trees and bridges could create hazardous conditions on the river, which can change from day to day depending on water flow and storm activity. There is no agency or organization that is responsible for maintaining the river corridor, so paddlers should learn about the river and safe boating practices and use caution. More information can be found at the Division of Watercraft and the USGS stream station site.

The project with its 8-car limestone parking area, access path to the river, signage, and lighting was constructed with a grant from the Division of Watercraft, on land leased from Portage County.
