Greens Funeral Home in Mantua recently made a donation to Hiram Police Department’s partnership with People Care Pet Pantry.
The donation was $500.00 in pet food, various supplies, cash to purchase additional needed items, and pet toys.
Greens Funeral Home employee Bard Dewitt and her husband Mickey made a $50.00 donation to the cause as well.
The People Care Pantry is an organization that provides families that have pets, the needed resources to keep the pets in their homes during financial crisis and hardships. By doing so, this reduces owner surrenders to overtaxed animal shelters, reduces medically unnecessary euthanasia, and help families honor their responsibility to provide lifelong loving homes for their pets.
Portage County currently has several drop off locations that folks can donate cat/dog food, toys, pet health care items, including the Hiram Police Department as a drop off location.
“I am excited and proud of this program”, say Chief Samec. “There are many area families who are in financial crisis and have pets, which by the way are part of our families.”
Donations can be dropped off at the Hiram Police Department lobby, located at 11617 Garfield Road Hiram at any time.
