The Villager – On President’s Day weekend, ten scouts and three leaders from Boy Scout Troop 4065, chartered by the Nelson United Methodist Church, traveled to Cuba, New York to attend the 47th Annual Cuba Lake Ice Camp. Once there, they set up their tents on the ice, where they would camp and cook for two days with temperatures barely out of single digits.

On Saturday, they competed with other scouts in events to test their skills. Troop 4065 won seven out of eight events, with five boys being individual event winners. A highlight of the weekend was a demonstration of an ice rescue by the Cuba Fire Department.

The scouts that attended were Dan Painley, Frank Fugman, Caleb Gula, Noah Gula, Mitchell Reder, Zach Rabatin, Travis Synnestvedt, Clint Kindlesparker, Tom Schaefer, and Scott Schaefer. Adult leadership was provided by Aaron Gula, Dave Gordon, and Tom Schaefer.
