Celebrate Authors and Literature of Ohio’s Western Reserve

If you are a fan of great literature AND are especially interested in local authors from the area, you will not want to miss the Western Reserve Book Festival on June 21 at Hiram College.

This is a free event open to the public. One where you will be able to meet and chat with over 40 authors who have ties to the Western Reserve and have authored books covering all genres: fiction, non-fiction, young adult /children, poetry, journals, organizations, and more.

David Giffels and his book

Keynoter Speaker will be David Giffels, assistant professor of English at University of Akron where he teaches creative nonfiction in the Northeast Ohio Master of Fine Arts Program. His latest book The Hard Way on Purpose was featured as an EditorsChoicein the New York Times Book Review. Find a full list of all the authors who will be present on their website.

Plenty of books will on sale by the authors which you may have signed.

The Hiram College Bistro will be open during the whole event serving a selection of soups, salads, sandwiches and pastries. StrEat Mobile Bistro and East Coast Original Frozen Custard will also have their food trucks on site for several hours during the day.

Find suggestions for lodging if you wish to stay overnight.

This is a fabulous opportunity for readers, writers, and wanna-be teen writers as well! If you are a high school student who is seriously interested in becoming a writer or improving your skills, you’ll want to visit the Emerging Writers Workshops page. Three courses are being offered including: Elements of Creative Writing, Creative Nonfiction, and Advanced Creative Nonfiction and run from June 19 – 21.
