The Rootstown Area Chamber of Commerce honored The Rootstown Fire Department at their June meeting with an Honorary Lifetime Member Award for 2014. “Congratulations, it is well deserved,” said President Denese Schneckenburger. “The Fire Department has been an avid supporter of for many years; ready to help when needed, and working with our members to better this community. It is our honor to have such a wonderful group of men and women to call our neighbor.”

What began in 1938 under the town hall on State Route 44 as the Rootstown Volunteer Fire Company originally housed a 1938 Dodge Pumper, a 1000 gallon Ford Tanker and an ambulance that was stored in a buggy shed. Things have changed – thankfully! Today, as you know, highly trained personnel maintain various training criteria annually to meet state mandated continuing education in both EMS and fire in order to provide the citizens of Rootstown the best emergency response service possible.

But did you know the department also offers other services and educational materials that and should be taken advantage of by Rootstown residents? Here are a few things that may of interest to you!
