Scott McKinney joined the Portage Park District Board of Commissioners after being appointed by Probate Judge Thomas Carnes. McKinney joins three other commissioners (Allan Orashan, Gary Cross, Elizabeth Tomasko Garner) on this unpaid, nonpartisan governing body that sets Park District policies and budgets.

Professionally, Scott McKinney is the Director of Stewardship and Fund Administration for Kent State University. He is responsible for donor recognition and collaborates with the Office of Student Financial Aid, the Kent State University Foundation, and departments throughout the university to ensure endowment funds are effectively used.

Community service is important to Scott. He currently is a member of the Kent Rotary and the Portage Foundation Board of Directors. He is a 2006 graduate of Leadership Portage County and was a founding member of the Portage Park District Foundation from 2010 to 2014.

His personal recreation interests include running, cycling, swimming, and camping – especially with his wife Julie and their children. In January 2012, he completed his first marathon at Walt Disney World. Scott holds a Bachelor’s degree in Leisure Services Management and Masters of Public Administration from Kent State University.
