Situated on a wooded 70 acre farm in Mantua, accomplished carvers and owners Jim Stadtlander and Diane Harto, a husband and wife team, operate the Woodcarved Art Gallery. The gallery itself is packed with stunning wood carvings. Several out buildings on the property are where Jim takes freshly cut trees through the whole process of milling, drying, and making the wood ready for carving. There is also a carving school where Diane teaches weekly classes and holds weekend workshops.

You can see many more of the exquisite carvings they have completed as well as students’ carvings on their Facebook page.
On November 22 – 23, Jim and Diane invite you to attend their annual open house where you will be able to view some of these museum quality sculptures, watch carving demonstrations, tour the buildings, and even purchase some of these beautiful works of art for the holidays (or just for yourself)! Learn about the classes they offer, ask questions, and enjoy the country setting for the afternoon. You’re sure to leave with new knowledge and a much deeper appreciation of this long admired art form. And you never know – it could be the beginning of a very exciting new hobby!
