The first of its kind on Cleveland’s east side, Adrenaline Monkey, a new concept in entertainment and fitness is opening its doors with a grand opening celebration on Saturday, June 30th starting at 11:00 a.m. Located at 26800 Renaissance Parkway in Warrensville Heights, the newly built 24,000 square foot facility is nothing short of fun and adrenaline pumping excitement. Opening day, themed “Championing the Everyday Hero,” will kick off with an official ribbon cutting ceremony at 11:00 a.m. followed by independent tours, local vendors sharing their products and services, food trucks, performances by Elevated Dance Crew and an opportunity to meet with four of the Ninja Warriors who have competed on the national TV show, American Ninja Warrior. The first 500 children will receive a superhero cape to get signed by American Ninja Warriors, Joe “The Weatherman” Moravsky, Michelle Warnky, Artis Thompson and Natalie Duran.
The grand opening marks a culmination of an idea that began 4 years ago when Founder Denise Carkhuff and her eight-year-old twin daughters were watching American Ninja Warrior. After seeing contestant Kacy Catanzaro struggle due to her small size, one of the girls turned to her mom and asked, “Mommy could you start a business that has ninja warrior obstacles that everyone could fit on?” Carkhuff thought to herself, “That’s actually a great idea, a place for physical activity and adventure for everyone of all shapes, sizes and genders. A place that embraces and empowers the underdog. I can get behind that!”
Carkhuff did just that and built a state-of-the-art family adventure and performance training center dedicated to empowering guests of all ages and abilities through fun, physical challenges. The facility houses ninja warrior-style obstacle courses, parkour, climbing walls, aerial ropes courses, performance training area and group fitness classes, arcade, party rooms and additional event space. Adrenaline Monkey will also be bringing approximately 50 jobs to the Warrensville Heights area. Team members are pumped and ready, doing whatever it takes to get to “GO!” In addition to providing jobs, Adrenaline Monkey will be supporting local businesses by offering their products and supporting their services, both opening day and on an ongoing basis. Companies such as Brucato Gourmet, Café Avalaun, CLE Juice Box, Core Sports Performance Training, Davis Bakery, Flying Onion, Malley’s Chocolates, Ohio Mobile Gaming (OMG), Playground World, Slyman’s, South Pointe Hospital and The Local Eden all are working with Adrenaline Monkey.
The timing of the facility opening couldn’t be better as people are seeking new ways to experience entertainment and fun. Fitness is on the rise with non-traditional forms of exercise becoming very popular. Adrenaline Monkey is designed to provide something active for the whole family. “We inspire active lifestyles and create empowering experiences through play at our facility,” states Carkhuff. “Players of all ages, sizes and abilities will get to test and challenge themselves…to be inspired and compete with themselves and others. But it isn’t just about play and fitness. We will provide so much more. From the moment guests walk through the door, they will embark upon an experience. They will notice every detail designed to enhance a truly unique and memorable experience.”
The grand opening event is free and open to the public starting at 11:00 a.m. Timed featured activities include the ribbon cutting ceremony at 11:00 a.m, a run through the course with the American Ninja Warriors at 12:00 p.m. and two performances between 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. by Elevated Dance Crew, the team dance group who won 2nd place in last year’s TV competition, World of Dance.
