Forbes House has made it easy to help end the cycle of domestic violence.
PAINESVILLE, OHIO (September 29, 2020) – Basket raffles are always such a big draw and fun part of events with so many items to choose from and the anticipation of your ticket being pulled as the winner! It has been a wonderful addition to fundraising at the annual reverse raffle in support of the only domestic violence shelter in Lake County, Forbes House. This year, with the October 9 reverse raffle now virtual and going LIVE on zoom, it was only natural to lead up to the big event with a three-week online basket raffle and silent auction.
“The first week was a success, states Kathy Strancar, Executive Director. There were a variety of sixteen items in week one and each week the number of items available to win increases.” The three-week raffle runs Tuesday through Sunday at 11:59pm, with each week featuring different items. Weekly winners are notified by email on Monday. Start dates for the final two weeks of the raffle are September 29 and October 6.
The event fundraising committee has collected a number of prizes up for grabs, including a $600 entire home deep clean from The Cleaning Authority of Mentor, Family Fun Night Basket donated by Target, Date Night in Cleveland donated by Tru by Hilton and the Goodtime III, a personal styling consult and package donated by The Artistry of You, and a spirits table hand-picked and donated by Diana McCubbin are just a few of the available items. Each donated prize is featured on the weekly raffle page and includes a prize description, noting the business or individual that donated it.
Donors have the chance to win prizes or experiences by purchasing ticket entries through the Forbes House website (www.ForbesHouse.org). The more tickets donors purchase, the better chance they will have to win the prize of their choice. This is a fun way for the community to get involved and to make an impact on ending the cycle of domestic violence.
Basket Raffle & Silent Auction is a Three-Week Online Winning Opportunity
Along with weekly basket raffles, an online silent auction is also running for three weeks with items such as an exotic car rental donated by Dream Car Adventures, a curator lead art tour donated by University Hospitals and a dinner for 8 at Manor House donated by Lake Erie College. All items for bid and details can be found on the Forbes House website. The silent auction has a closing bid time of 9:00PM on October 9th.
Both the online basket raffle and silent auction are part of the Virtual Reverse Raffle benefiting Forbes House, known as Cash Dash & Dinner Bash. Typically, a full evening affair, this year it will be online from 7pm-8pm, Friday October 9 in the comfort of your own home. Just as in-person, the event includes mainboard tickets for a chance to win $2500 and $3, $5 and $10 sideboards, a 50/50 raffle and even a wine pull. Mainboard tickets are $50 and include the link to be part of the LIVE virtual event. Tickets can be purchased at www.ForbesHouse.org along with sideboard tickets and all activity entries. One of everyone’s favorite activities is the wine pull, where $20 buys you a surprise bottle of wine with one bottle specially marked winning $100 and 3 others receiving a surprise gift! Wine Pull tickets must be purchased in advance on the website and then taken to World Wines and Liquor in Mentor October 5th – 8tth to pull your bottle of wine.
A twist to this virtual event is the offering of party packs to enjoy in the comfort of your own home while watching the livestream event. Choose from the Classic Party Pack or the Extreme Party Pack. Both include a fully prepared ready to go taco bar with all the fixings from Moe’s Southwest Grill, popcorn from local vendor Northcoast Corn Creations and donuts from Peace Love and Little Donuts. The Extreme Party Pack includes a bottle of wine.
“The Cash Dash & Dinner Bash reverse raffle is our main fundraiser and we are excited to go virtual as it allows people from all over to participate in many different ways,” Strancar states. The support we receive from the fundraiser enables us to provide free programs and services that help empower individuals and families to end the cycle of domestic violence. Though we are virtually together for the event this year we can still make a real difference!”
