
June 6 – Birding by Bicycle – Headwaters Trail – Garrettsville Trail head starting at 9:00 am.
Come join Joe Malmisur and Dr. Sarah Mabey as we take a leisurely ride to Mantua and back on the Headwaters Trail. We will be listening to see how many different species of birds we can see or hear on the trail. 16 miles round trip, but you can ride any distance, it’s you choice. If you aren’t a birder, no problem, join us anyways and enjoy the beauty and spender of Headwaters Trail.
June 13 – Canoe trip down the Cuyahoga. – Elden Russell park to Camp Hi
Come join Joe Malmisur as we float down the beautiful Crooked River. Prothonotary Warblers, King Fishers, Tree Swallows and many other birds and animals will delight us as we float quietly by. $20.00/person. Contact Camp Hi for registration at 330-569-7621.
June 14 – Mini Mushroom Foray – Shaw Woods 10:00am – 1:00pm
Come join Chris Craycroft, Joe Malmisur, and members of the Ohio Mushroom Society as we scour Shaw Wood for mushrooms. Mushrooms will be collected and then identified by experts from the Mushroom Society. Bring your lunch and eat overlooking the West Branch of the Mahoning rivers lush flood plain.
June 27 – Moths of the Night – Towner’s Woods 8:30pm – 10:00pm
Come join Joe Malmisur and others as we use black lights and white sheets to attract moths and other night insects for identification. Who knows what we will see, maybe a spectacular Luna or Io moth. We will also be hiking a few trails in search of a Barred or Great Horned Owl. WHOOOO knows what we will see or hear!
July 30 – Blue Moon Canoe Float. Rt. 422 to Camp Hi
Mark your calendars for a once in a “Blue Moon” event. Join Joe Malmisur as we float down the Cuyahoga River at night during the Blue Moon. Beavers, Otters, and other creatures of the night will be out and about for us to enjoy as we float down the river to Camp Hi. $20.00 /person Contact Camp Hi to register at 330-569-7621.
