white-dogNo one wants to give up a treasured pet, especially at this time of year.

People Care Pet Pantry is a 501 (c) (3) Public Charity founded in 2009 by Rene and Tom Lamp that has formed community partnerships with the APL, the Pound, various rescue groups and businesses. They feed a wide variety of pets including cats, dogs, birds, guinea pigs, hamsters, rabbits, horses, etc., as donations allow.

Their mission is to provide aid necessary for families to keep cherished pets during times of financial crisis with a goal to reduce owner surrenders to overtaxed shelters, reduce medically unnecessary euthanasia, and help families honor their responsibility to provide life long, loving homes for their pets.

People Care Pet Pantry fed over 8,000 pets from Portage County and surrounding areas just last year. They screen applicants to verify financial hardship and provide the supplies necessary to help people keep their pets.

“Many families who apply for help have been laid off, are transitioning from the military or have had a medical setback. We work with shelters and animal rescues to reach people before they surrender their pets and provide aid necessary for them to keep their families intact while they work to resolve their problems.”

Approximately 95% utilize People Care Pet Pantry services once or twice to fill the gap while they are getting back on their feet.

Lately, supplies have been so low, they have only been able to distribute to emergency cases. It’s time to replenish – but they need our help!

Many locations will be involved in a special collection endeavor to boost these supplies the weekend after Thanksgiving. Many of us will be out near a drop off location. It is so easy to add a bag of pet food to your cart while shopping, and with so many locations, surely there is one nearby where you can just pull in and drop it off. If everyone added just one bag of food or other needed item, they would be bursting with all they need! Please take a few minutes to stop by one these designated drop off points and add to a family’s peace of mind. No one wants to give up a treasured pet. Become part of keeping the joy of the season in the hearts of a family.

People Care Pet Pantry is having a Share the Love campaign. Any food, or items dropped off in their drop boxes will be split with Rose’s Rescue, Cripple Creek Ferals, and the People Care Pet Pantry.

This campaign will be November 29, 30, and December 1. Please take a minute to drop off something for the homeless pets. Drop off locations:
