Portage Park District supported Kent State’s Army ROTC Cadets in their land navigation course on February 19. The course took place in Towner’s Woods and taught cadets how to read maps, use a compass, and other navigational skills. Using the parks showed the cadets how maps reflect the terrain.

On May 6, 2014 voters will be able to say yes to Portage Parks so they can continue to support programs like this KSU navigation course. The proposed 1/2 mill, 10-year operating and improvement levy will cost the owner of a $100,000 home just $17.50/year, or $1.50/month. It’s hard to believe so little will be able to do so much for everyone in Portage County. But it’s true!
