Every year, Chief Ed Samec of the Hiram Police Department looks for ways to raise money for the annual Shop With A Cop program held in December.

The Shop with a Cop program provides Hiram and Garrettsville area children and their families the opportunity to enjoy the Christmas season. The program is designed for less fortunate and under privileged children to go holiday shopping, for themselves and their families, with a police officer. The program brings about much heartfelt joy to a lot of area residents who otherwise would have very little to celebrate with. “Our goal is that every child gets the chance to enjoy the holiday season,” says Chief Samec, who probably enjoys the event at least as much as, if not more than, the kids who are shopping!

This year’s pancake breakfast will be held on April 19, 2014 at the Hiram College Kennedy Center from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm in Dix Dining Hall. This is an “ALL-U-CAN-EAT” breakfast, so you large families and families with lots of hungry teenagers – take advantage! With a price of $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for children under 10, no one will go away hungry!

Last year’s Hiram/Garrettsville Shop With a Cop program was held at the Streetsboro Kmart. Hiram, Garrettsville, and Macdeonia officers and volunteers hosted 10 families with 29 children. Twenty-five volunteers helped wrap gifts.

If your family or business is interested in making a donation for the 2014 Shop with a Cop program, please call the Hiram Police Department at (330) 569-3236.
