Beer is a fabulous libation. It’s especially good on a hot summer’s day. There’s just something about the bubbly coldness going down that can’t be beat. But beer is not just a great thirst-quencher; it has a number of other uses as well, many which don’t have anything to do with consuming it.
1.) Beer is great for your hair
A mixture of a cup of flat beer and a raw egg can give your hair new life. Just mix the concoction together and massage it into your hair. Leave it in a few minutes then wash it out with shampoo. Your hair will regain its shine.
2.) Take a bath
Not only is beer good for your hair, it’s good for your skin, too. Adding beer to your bath water will leave you with silky smooth skin. You can even add bath salts for an extra-luxurious soak.
3.) Liven up your lawn
Just pour a small amount of beer onto the brown spots in your lawn. The fermented sugars in the beer will bring the green back to your lawn.
4.) Attract butterflies
Butterflies are attracted to sweet things. They will hover over anything with sugar in it. To make a magnet for butterflies, mix a few cans of stale beer with some mashed up bananas, syrup, fruit juice, and rum. Splash it around your yard and you’ll have a yard full of butterflies in no time.
5) Polish your furniture
Using flat beer on your furniture will leave it with a nice shine. Just wipe it on with a cloth and then follow with a dry cloth. Your furniture will look brand new.
6.) Use beer as a stain remover
If you’ve spilled coffee or tea on your clothing or carpet, you no longer need to fret. Just pour some beer on the stain and blot it out. Repeat as necessary.
7.) Build a better mousetrap
Yes, beer can catch mice. Pour some beer in a deep bowl or pail and set up a ramp leading to it. A mouse will be attracted to the sweet scent. Mice will be able to climb into the bowl but won’t be able to get out.
8.) Get rid of garden pests
Strategically placed containers of beer in your garden will ward off pests such as slugs and snails. In the evening and nighttime hours the creatures will be attracted to the beer, crawl into the container, and then drown.
9.) Get rid of cockroaches
Put a slice of beer-soaked bread in a jar then put some petroleum jelly around the rim. Roaches will be able to crawl in and won’t be able to get out. Problem solved.
10.) Clean gold jewelry
Stop buying expensive jewelry cleaners. Just soak your gold jewelry in a dish of beer, remove, rinse and polish. Your jewelry will look as good as new.
