In memory of Christie Rufener Campbell 1974-2006
The Portage County Randolph Fairgrounds is where you will want to be on one of these days:
- Friday, May 16 from 9 am to 3 pm
- Saturday, May 17 from 9 am to 3 pm
- Sunday, May 18 from 10 am to 1 pm
Why?
This biennial event is sponsored by the Portage County Randolph Fairboard and the St. Joseph Church Social Concerns Committee to support the efforts of the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative. Sarcoma Cancers are very rare and this initiative has nearly 100% of its funds going directly to research.
What is Sarcoma?
A sarcoma is a cancer of the connective tissues, such as nerves, muscles, and bones. Sarcomas can arise anywhere in the body and are frequently hidden deep in the limbs. They are often misdiagnosed and assumed to be sports injuries or benign bumps. Sarcomas are rare tumors, comprising less than 1% of adults’ cancers and nearly 21% of children’s cancers. They are best diagnosed and treated by a team of doctors with experience in all aspects of sarcoma care. Though sarcomas can be aggressive and difficult to treat, many people survive sarcoma.
