The Hiram Police Department held its 3rd Annual Cops and Kids fishing day event at Camp Asbury on Saturday, August 23. The event was a huge success! The weather was perfect, participants caught lots of fish, and plenty of new friends were made.

Cops and Kids fishing day presents an opportunity for area children to enjoy the day fishing with police officers of the Hiram Police Department. The event builds life long bonds between children and police officers. Parents are encouraged to attend the event as family unity is also a part of the program. Every child that attended the event received a free Zebco fishing rod/reel combo and event T-shirt. Thank you to Haylett’s BP for supplying lunch at the event, Buckeye Worm Farm for supplying the bait, Camp Asbury for hosting the event for the third year in a row, Berg’s Eye apparel for the wonderful T-shirts, Great Lakes Outdoor Supply for their sponsorship, and everybody that came out and spent the day with us.

Don’t Miss the Hot Rod Car Show!

The Hiram Police Department will be holding the Hot Rod Car Show on September 6 on Hayden Street in Hiram Village from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. The Car Show is free to attend and registration of show cars/trucks is free. The event is a fund raiser for the “Shop with a Cop” program for underprivileged children and their families in the Crestwood and Garrettsville area to go Christmas shopping for themselves and their families. We are passionate that no child should go without due to family financial strains and poverty. There will be a 50/50 raffle and donations will be accepted for the Shop with a Cop program. Come out and spend the day with us at the Car Show. There will be absolutely magnificent cars and trucks, food vendors, music, trophies, and plenty of family fun! Hope to see you all there.
