The Hiram Police Department recently received a Laser Technology CTI 20/20 Tru Speed Laser unit from the State of Ohio, Department of Public Safety.

The Laser unit was provided to the Hiram Police Department at no cost and is a result of their aggressive outreach and efforts to the community directed toward safety belt awareness and safety.

“We were selected by the state based on our community safety programs and education programs; this is an honor to be recognized by the State of Ohio in such a manner. The State of Ohio Department of Public Safety closely monitors and evaluates the efforts put forth by law enforcement agencies in the state and selects those departments that reach out to stress awareness, compliance, education, and safety issues related to a multitude of areas, especially with the ‘Click-it-or-Ticket,’ ‘What’s Holding you Back,’ and the ‘Over the Limit, Under Arrest’ safety campaigns. We were extremely proactive with the safety campaigns. We involved Hiram College, businesses, and community members,” said Hiram Police Chief Ed Samec.

The Hiram Police Department is dedicated to public safety and committed to community unity.
